Dr. Avritt is the Clinical Director and Owner of The Mindset Counseling Group offering a variety of mental health services to a wide array of individuals. He has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for almost 10 years and is an approved LPC-Supervisor. Additionally, Dr. Avritt is a Certified Specialist in Anger Management (CSAM-I).
John is a former Master Resiliency Trainer & Performance Expert at the R2 Performance Center at Ft. Hood, Texas where he focused on assisting soldiers in strategizing ways to build resiliency. In addition to his work in mental health, John is a Robin coach, coaching and empowering educators, students, and families with skills to propel their well-being, personal growth, and unlock their true human potential.
Prior to his work with soldiers, John coordinated mental health counseling services at Texas State Technical College, served as a Professional School Counselor, and was a high school basketball coach for 15 years.
John completed his PhD in Counselor Education from Texas Tech University, where he examined Work-Family Conflict. In addition, he has a Master of Sport Psychology degree, as well as a Master of Counseling degree.
John has been married for over 20 years and he and his wife have 4 boys.
